The trailer received widespread popularity online and the concept would be expanded on during Adult Swim's April Fools 2022 broadcast.[286] On October 3, 2023, Greenley announced Pibby would not be moving forward as a series.[287] On April 26, 2024, Dodge Greenley uploaded parts of a storyboard for a Pibby pilot to his website, providing fans a glimpse into what had been developed.[288] The storyboard was removed from the website the following day.
